This group aims to formulate research priorities and short-term, medium-term and long-term policies in the field of food and nutrition, and provide expert advice to national and regional organizations, monitor and evaluate the nutrition situation in society, and improve the scientific-research level of experts and students of various degrees. And also the creation of mechanisms to improve and promote research and education in solving existing nutritional bottlenecks and designing and implementing strategic plans of the institute.

Prophecy
Identifying food and nutrition issues in the country and providing appropriate methods to solve the problems
Preparation of scientific bases in the field of food and nutrition in the country
Establishing a relationship between scientific positions and government policies and programs as a national task
Continuous and effective application of new science and technology in Iran and the world in the country’s decision-making and executive system
Designing and planning food and nutrition security policies at different levels of society
Directing research in the institute and entering research results into scientific judgments and determining research priorities
Identifying research needs and the relationship with planning and implementation in the country
Encouraging and persuading research groups of institutes and scientific centers to conduct research in accordance with research priorities
Investigating the role of nutrition and food industry as an important factor in the country’s economic development
Investigating economic, social and cultural indicators effective in changing household food habits and patterns and the role of governmental, non-governmental and international organizations in this regard.
Creating coordination in the research activities of different food and nutrition departments (inter-departmental partnership)
Studying and compiling the country’s nutrition monitoring unit system, especially in vulnerable groups of society
The relationship between food and nutrition security problems and public sector policies, considering the educational and research role of this group.
