Establishment process

On 8/27/1340, based on the legal approval letter of the Board of Ministers No. 15/13698, “Iran Institute of Food and Nutrition” and its affiliated higher education institution were established as an independent organization related to the then Ministry of Health. The main purpose of establishing this institute was to determine the general nutrition policy of the country based on surveys and research. Then in 1355, the former National Council approved the law establishing the “Institute of Nutritional Sciences and Food Industries of Iran” and as a result, the law allowing the establishment of the “Food and Nutrition Institute of Iran” was canceled and the new institute replaced it. Until 1365, the institute was affiliated with the former Ministry of Health, and then it joined Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services at the same time as the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education was formed. Finally, according to the developments and global developments and the change in research attitude, according to the resolution dated 14/08/1370 of the Islamic Council and the approval of the Guardian Council on 21/08/1370, a new organization named “Nutrition Research Institute and Food Industries of the Country” as a scientific institute And a research with financial independence and legal personality and affiliated with Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences was established. According to this resolution, the institute once again regained its official position as a national institute with legal and financial independence. This institute has an educational arm called Faculty of Nutritional Sciences and Food Industry.
